Most 21st students are digital natives, entering public school already experienced in working with a variety of technology tools. Many students in my classes have prior experience in searching the web for information. However, it is important for students to be able to separate fact from fiction as the web is an information resources that includes a plethora of content that is unreliable. Instilling in students skills and knowledge to evaluate digital sources is necessary as inquiry is a life skill they will use beyond their schooling. For my academic integrity project, I used Simitator's Fake Tweet Generator to create a fake "Twitter" chat between dead artists Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali. I embedded several quotes and factoids relating to both artists as well as some false information. Within my class, I could use this as an activity in which students review the conversation and list as many "facts and fakes" as they can based on their own research of the artists.
